Yes, your washing machine needs cleaning, too

If you’ve read our post about front loading washing machines, you know that leaving the door closed can lead to mold, which means smelly clothes.

But if you own a top loading machine, like I do, you’re not off the hook. For your clothes to really get clean, you’ve got to keep your machine clean, too.

Add cleaning your washing machine to your list of quarterly chores. Once every three to four months, run your empty washer through a "normal" or "clean" cycle, and put 1 cup of white distilled vinegar directly into the tub to keep it performing at its best.

This simple step will help keep your laundry smelling fresh and your machine working properly.
